My name is Marcus Adams, and I am here to walk beside you in your journey toward change, growth, and a meaningful life. I believe that so much of what we need is already within us, but sometimes the noise of life can make it difficult to slow down and reconnect with who we are.
As a United States Air Force veteran, I witnessed firsthand how trauma, adversity, and the pressure to serve a greater purpose can lead us to put parts of ourselves aside. This experience shaped my interest in supporting veterans, service members, and others navigating trauma, life transitions, identity, and meaning.
As a counseling intern, I strive to provide a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where you can slow things down, feel understood, and explore what matters most to you. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with who you are and move toward a life that feels true to you.
I have over three years of experience in applied behavioral health supporting neurodivergent individuals and am currently involved in research focused on neurodivergent counselors-in-training. I have also led professional work published through the American Counseling Association in support of service members, veterans, and their families. With over nine years of fitness coaching experience, I also have a strong interest in working with youth and adult athletes, especially at the intersection of mental health and performance.
Marcus Adams earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Hawaiʻi and is currently pursuing his master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Marcus offers appointments via a sliding-scale fee structure through our intern program. He is supervised by Jessie Ogienko, LCSW & Mia Dadian, LCSW.
