How we work
Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. Our therapists are trained in a range of approaches and will work with you to find what fits best for where you are right now.
The approaches we use are grounded in research and applied with care for the whole person. Below is an overview of the methods you may encounter in your work with us.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a well-researched approach to healing from trauma and other distressing experiences. Rather than requiring you to talk through events in detail, EMDR works with how the brain stores and processes memory — often allowing relief that talk therapy alone hasn't provided.
TF-CBT
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured, evidence-based approach developed specifically for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. It involves both the young person and their caregivers, and helps families understand and respond to the impact of trauma together.
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy was developed to help people who experience intense emotions and difficulty in relationships. It blends practical skill-building — around emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and communication — with a genuinely accepting, non-judgmental stance toward the person using it.
Child-centered play therapy
Children often don't have words for what they're carrying. Play therapy gives them a developmentally appropriate space to express and process experiences through the language that comes most naturally to them. Sessions are led by the child, with the therapist providing a safe, attuned presence.
Sandtray therapy
Sandtray offers a non-verbal way to explore inner experience using miniature figures and a tray of sand. It can be useful for clients of any age when experiences are hard to put into words — creating a kind of symbolic distance that can make difficult material easier to approach.
